Advanced Rehabilitation for Limb Lengthening & Deformity Correction Preceptorship
Preceptorship | September 28 - 30
Physical therapy is a critical component of limb lengthening and deformity correction treatment as these procedures create special demands and considerations for the patient’s rehabilitation. The goals of therapy are to maintain and increase range-of-motion of joints, promote muscle strengthening, help prevent contractures, and improve strength, mobility, and functional independence.
Participants will have the opportunity to observe live, in-person physical and occupational therapy sessions with the experienced Paley Rehabilitation therapists; attendees can select specific sessions that are applicable to their target patient population. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to participate in problem-solving sessions to discuss either observed cases or their own individual cases.
At the conclusion of this preceptorship, participants will:
► Be able to select appropriate treatment protocols for patients with external & internal limb lengthening devices.
► Be exposed to prevention and treatment of pitfalls.
► Be able to apply neuromuscular techniques.
► Understand splint management and fabrication.
► Be able to apply pain and anxiety management techniques.
► Comprehend and execute long-term management.
The 3 day event will occur in Paley Physical Therapy located at 5325 Greenwood Ave Suite 101, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
